Moving Forward

Blacklion Families,

With Matthew having hit harder than anticipated, many Hampton Roads residents remain without power. According to local news reports, progress in repairing the damage is slow but on-going. As a general precaution, please be aware of and avoid any suspicious power lines and to always avoid driving or walking through standing water. If you find yourself in immediate need of assistance, please contact your Ombudsman either by email or directly by phone by calling the OMBUDS phone line for help in being directed to the proper resources. If you are in need of food, there are several local area food banks that can be accessed. The American Red Cross can also be contacted for emergency food assistance by calling:

757-838-7320 (Hampton/Newport News)

757-440-1111 or 757-440-6380 (Norfolk, 24 hour)

Angel Food Ministries is also available for assistance, which is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief and financial support.

If you are in need of an emergency loan, please contact Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society at

757-953-5956 (Portsmouth)
