Though nothing has yet been confirmed, it is important to take into consideration the risk of the Hampton Roads area being affected by the progressing Hurricane, which is currently off the east coast of Cuba. Though models are murky at best, as the storm tracks further North, it could possibly pose a threat to our area. Keeping this in mind, it is important to stay up-to-date with the storm's progression, to stay prepared by stockpiling batteries, bottled water, and canned goods, and to also have a bag packed and prepared in the event that we are asked to evacuate. Again, these are only suggested precautions to take and does not reflect any immediate danger at this time .
It is also extremely important that you and Sailor ensure that your information is updated in NFAAS. NFAAS has a mobile application that can be downloaded and used to receive critical updates, access resources, checklists, and track the progression of the storm.
