More HomeComing News!

- At the Bush's "Homecoming Celebration" at Nauticus Museum (1 Museum Drive Norfolk, VA 23510) on August 20 from 6-10pm, Homecoming information will be on repeat every 20 minutes starting at 6:20pm.

- The base access list will be at Gates 2 and 3A. Signs to the pier and parking lots start from Gates 2 and 3A. I would advise spouses to use a different gate as the line at Gates 2 and 3A will be lengthy.

- The base access list is only valid for Homecoming. If you are wanting to tour the base another day, your sailor will have to sponsor you on.

- All bags and vehicles are subject to be searched.

- Prepare for lots of walking and waiting.

- There will be separate tents for CVN 77, CVW-8, CSG-2 and DESRON-22 - squadron's will be included in the CVW-8.

- There will be water and snacks in the CVW-8 tent, but I suggest bringing your own water bottle as it will be HOT out.

- This tent will be open to the entire air wing not specified people.

- They have said "No" to individual tents for each squadron.

- The tent will be located in parking lot qp-1.

- Please wear family friendly attire and comfortable shoes. You could always change into heels or wedges once your sailor has started walking off the boat.

- Homecoming signs must not be any larger than a poster board. Banners are not allowed. Please no inappropriate messages on the posters.

- There are absolutely NO: Pets allowed on the pier or in vehicles, coolers, weapons (doesn't matter if you have concealed carry. Personal guns are not allowed on military installations), alcoholic beverages, bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, skate boards, BALLOONS, bubbles, personal tents, chairs, umbrellas or wagons. Strollers are ok. Service dogs are allowed, but must remain in the parking lots. Side note for coolers and chairs: they are not allowed on the pier, but are allowed on base.

- There will be handicap parking spots close to the pier.

- NEW MOM'S: You can pick up your admittance bracelets at the Bush's "Homecoming Celebration" or the day of there will be a list you can check into. Each new mom is allowed to have their children and 1 "helper" in the tent with them. If you have a photographer, that photographer is considered your 1 helper. A family member and photographer are not allowed. Only one of them can be in the tent with you. Make sure to bring more than enough Breastmilk/formula, diapers and wipes as Homecoming is a lengthy process.

- Make sure to pack eye protection and sunscreen as the Virginia sun is unforgiving!

- The First Kiss winners and New Parents will depart first.  Then it will be a "Free-for-All" for everyone else. There will be 5 brows lowered. So it should be a relatively quick process getting everyone else off.

- The Norfolk NEX is hosting a FREE sign making event on August 19th from 11am-2pm. All materials are provided and while supplies last.

- OPSEC is of the upmost importance. Please keep any dates, countdown calendars and times off of social media until the USS George H.W. Bush releases the information to the media. Please only give information to those you personally know.
